Standard Encryption Module for Signature995
Standard Encryption for Signature995 is available as a free download (10 MB). It requires that both pdf995 and Signature995 (Version 4.0+) be installed.

The Standard Encryption module for Signature995 uses native PDF encryption to restrict users from printing, copying text and images and modifying PDF files. It can also password protect PDF files

Unlike other PDF solutions, Signature995 is free to both the sender and the recipient.

1: Encrypting a PDF
Specify the file you wish to encrypt. Select the restrictions you wish to impose on the PDF. You may optionally password protect the document. Click "Encrypt the document." Encrypted.pdf will be created and displayed in your PDF viewer. Encrypted.pdf is a secure version of your PDF. Your original PDF is left unchanged.

2: Encrypting PDFs from the command line
You may encrypt PDFs from the command line with Pdf995 Standard Encrytption.

Execute Pdf995 Standard Encryption.exe with the following parameters:

input_file output_file user_password owner_password permissions 128|40

permissions is 8 digit long 0 or 1. Each digit has a particular security function:

AllowPrinting
AllowModifyContents
AllowCopy
AllowModifyAnnotations
AllowFillIn (128 bit only)
AllowScreenReaders (128 bit only)
AllowAssembly (128 bit only)
AllowDegradedPrinting (128 bit only)

Example: permissions to copy and print would be: 10100000

Command line example:

c:\pdf995\res\utilities\signature995\Pdf995 Standard Encryption.exe c:\pdf995\input.pdf c:\pdf995\output.pdf "userpassword" "ownerpassword" 10100000 128
